One-Step Influenza A and B (FLU A&B) Test Kit is a rapid and convenient immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Influenza Type A and B nucleoproteins antigens from nasal swab or nasopharyngeal swab obtained from patient with signs and symptoms of respiratory infection. The device is designed to aid in the rapid differential diagnosis of influenza A and B viral infection. This assay provides only a preliminary result. The test is not intended to detect influenza C antigens. Negative results should be confirmed by viral culture; they do not preclude influenza virus infection and should not be used as the sole basis for treatment or other management decisions. The test is intended for professional and laboratory use.
Summary and Explanation
Influenza is a highly contagious acute viral infection of the respiratory tract. It is a communicable disease easily transmitted from person to person through aerosol droplets excreted when sneezing and coughing. Common symptoms include high fever, chills, headache, cough, sore throat and malaise. The type A influenza virus is more prevalent and is the primary pathogen associated with serious epidemics.
