It is intended for professional use as an aid in the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This assay provides only a preliminary result. Clinical expertise and professionaljudgment should be sought to further evaluate the result of the test.
Summary and Explanation
The Myoglobin has a molecular mass of 17.8 KD , mainly exists in myocardium and skeletal muscle. In AMI, plasma Myo typically rises some 2-3 hours after the onset of chest pains, peaks within 9-12 hours, and returns to baseline levels within 24-36 hours. Myo is also one of the most important myocardial markers, with well-established roles in confirming acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and in monitoring reperfusion during thrombolytic therapy following AMI.
